Players

Anyone who is reasonably proficient (with or without a handicap) will be welcome. Verulam has full facilities for lady golfers – so please enter. It promises to be another great day but numbers must be limited to 40 golfers – so first come first, served. The cost is only £75. This includes your green fees, tea/coffee and bacon rolls on arrival, a hot lunch and sandwiches afterwards with the prize giving. Alternative menus are available for those vegetarians and other food requirements. If you just fancy a walk round the ´countryside´ with lunch and tea, it is yours for £25.

The Competition

As in the past, the morning 18 holes will be a Stableford competition, which enables competition across all standards, played in groups of three or four. The afternoon round will be an 18 holes Greensomes competition.

The Charity

The beneficiary is The Market Research Benevolent Association (MRBA) – the market research industry´s independent, registered charity providing financial assistance to people who work (or who have worked) in Market Research. Over the years the charity has helped hundreds of people and their families, who experienced financial hardship as a result of illness, injury, bereavement or other personal problems. Part of your green fees are automatically donated to the charity, as are the proceeds of the raffle, which is drawn on the day. If you wish to donate a prize for the raffle then bring it on the day or send it to Sample Answers:
If you wish to make a payment or donate money to the charity, you can either:

The Venue – The Home of the Ryder Cup

Although the first formal Ryder cup competition was played in 1927 at the Worcester Country Club in Massachusetts, the previous year had seen a competition at Wentworth Golf club in England, the suggestion for which had come from Samuel Ryder, then Captain of Verulam Golf Club.  Ryder also provided the now-famous gold trophy at a dinner held at Verulam for the Great Britain team before they left for the 1927 match.

The challenging par 72 parkland course was designed by James Braid in 1905 and at 6429 yards from the competition tees, the course is not long. The course has a good drainage record and in summer the ball really does run on the fast well-manicured fairways. The best scores result from being straight and having a good short game rather than long hitting that doesn’t follow the fairway.

Buggies

Buggies are in short supply at Verulam. They will be block booked and available for hire through Sample Answers. Allocation will be determined by demand and a small premium will be charged in favour of the MRBA.

Sponsorship Opportunities

What better way is there for you to enhance your brand image within the Market Research sector?  Sponsoring the MRS golf day brings your company before the movers and shakers of the industry and contributes to an important charity.  It also gives you the opportunity to network with like-minded people and enjoy a good day out.  Sponsorship puts your company logo on the website and enables you to have your literature and other promotional material available on the day. It costs just £300 for the assured publicity through the MRS and associated promotion of the day and it also includes the cost of 1 entrance fee – value £80.

Please email [email protected] for more information on sponsorship opportunities at this year’s MRS Golf Day.
